What is CLIA card?

CLIA card (EMBARC ID - Enrolled Member Benefit and Recognition Card) issued by Cruise Lines International Association is travel agent's identification card showing membership with CLIA. EMBARC ID card is often used as proof that the card holder is an official seller of travel.

Why host travel agency needs CLIA number?

It’s a number for vendors to identify you as a seller of travel. You can't book travel as a travel agent without this number. The vendor recognize the travel agents or host travel agency and it's perks & benefits by CLIA number in vendor's system. It works  the same way as the ARC or IATA number, it’s just issued by another organization and has different barriers of entry & expenses associated with it. CLIA supports policies and practices that foster a safe, secure, healthy and sustainable cruise ship environment and is dedicated to promoting the cruise travel experience.
